Last Modified Is Not the Whole History

updated_at resembles the last crease in a page. It records the most recent touch, not every earlier turn. Query a past day through the current field, and an object edited later may disappear from that window.

A snapshot answers what exists now; an event stream answers how it got here. Keeping those questions separate makes a query less magical and more reliable. A missing match need not mean that nothing happened.
